These features as a way for the Ministry to highlight artists, musicians, writers, and makers of all variety. With so many talented individuals to choose from, we know it is a challenge to feature every clever creative worthy of note, but perhaps we might endeavour to introduce to you a new name in our community of steam and cog, or perhaps remind you of one artisan’s successful efforts to bring the past that never was to the here and now.
This week’s Æther Feature for May 8th 2014 is all about cosplayer Christina Payton.
Our journalists first met Miss Payton at Emerald City Steampunk Expo in 2012. Back then Christina had a lovely Eliza D Braun cosplay of the outfit she wore while breaking Mr Books out of the House of Usher base in Antarctica.
So it was a lovely surprise to find Miss Payton in DemiCon 25, in Des Moines, Iowa. This time she came with three times the cosplay.
Behold Christina as Eliza at the opera (probably rather bored and in danger of starting a knife fight), ready to rescue Mr Books (with ponamu pistols, dynamite, and clockwork fuses), and dressed to attend a suffragist meeting. (Her sash says it all, but I believe the pistols are tucked under her train)
