Tales from the Archives — Three

The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences has many forgotten stories in its Archives. Stories of madcap adventures in all corners of the Empire, dark doings in hidden places, and mysterious devices and artifacts that the everyday citizen should never become aware of for fear it would quite undo their minds.

Archivist to the Ministry, Eliza D Braun (recently and unwillingly reassigned to the Archives) and Wellington Thornhill Books (recently and unwillingly assigned Eliza D. Braun) have selected some cases they feel the public is ready for.

In this episode:

The Astonishing Amulet of Amenartas, written and narrated by Nathan Lowell

Agent Heathcliff Durham finds himself crisscrossing Africa, looking for an Amulet that could spell disaster for any who come near it. Battling blistering heat, starvation, wild animals, and despair, he is not comforted by the company of a rough and ready sort named Morrison. Soon Durham begins to suspect he may never return home—and to top it all off the tea has almost run out.

  1. Excellent story! Excellent writing, reading, and post production!
I predict there will be more steam punk stories set in Africa after this gets out there.

I even enjoyed the opening & “closing credits”. Kudos all the way around. I’d comment more, but I want to avoid the spoilers (maybe later). 🙂

  2. Agent Lowell is a wonderful spinner of tales. So pleased he could join the Ministry- it was a real delight!

  3. Arrrrrgggghhhhh. I got to the village and the boy and the story stopped, never to go again. I either have to start all over or miss the end or download. Darn. Since I don’t know what the original problem is, I am thinking it over for now. I will probably download as I can control things a bit better. Sigh! No prob, the sun is shining and it is not snowing for a change.

  4. Lovely, as usual. I am such a Lowell Fan and now I’ve bookmarked this site now to see what else will be coming. One question though, will you release any stories without background sounds and music? I have hearing problems and these sounds make it very hard for me to understand the dialogue.. 🙂
