The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences has many forgotten stories in its Archives. Stories of madcap adventures in all corners of the Empire, dark doings in hidden places, and mysterious devices and artifacts that the everyday citizen should never become aware of for fear it would quite undo their minds.
To launch our third season of steampunk from around the world, our journalists present something different for this year’s Christmas special. Recruiting author Lisa-Anne Samuels, the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences present a very special celebration of Hanukkah. We hope you enjoy this holiday tribute, complete with machinations and mystery.
In this episode:
The Miracle of a First Night — by Lisa-Anne Samuels
Clerk Natalie Hart, a woman shunned by her orthodox Jewish family for her involvement with the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, is joined by Chief Archivist Wellington Thornhill Books, Esquire, in a case that reaches beyond the archivist’s scope. Natalie must not only educate the archivist naïve to the ways of her people, but help in retrieving a mysterious artifact deeply rooted in legends and lore foreign to the stalwart Englishman.
About the Author:
Lisa-Anne Samuels is a wanderer at heart. Born in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, she is proud to be the daughter of a family of “Wandering Jews.†Growing up in a military family and moving every few years made it hard to keep friends once boxes were packed, so books and stories took the role of companions until the Samuels family settled down.
Well, at least her parents did – Lisa-Anne kept moving.
After 17 different cities, at least five of them more than once, Lisa-Anne currently lives in Virginia where she writes SciFi, Fantasy, and all manner of other stories. She also builds Lego’s and plays games with her son and husband while attempting to avoid the vigorous tail wagging of the family dog, Macon.
Theme music for the Ministry composed and created by Alex White.
