Covers are curious creations. Writers write, and then send their stories into publishing companies. They are the ones that arrange the covers, and it is always a nerve wracking event. When they arrive, authors hold their breath.
Ace Books has, as the Americans would say, knocked it out of the park. Eliza, the lighthouse, the airships, and the delightful design are all breath-taking. Once again, unfortunately Mr Wellington Books looked away at the wrong moment…or perhaps that is deliberate on his part.
The artist of this cover is actually the same cover artist for Phoenix Rising and the Janus Affair. Dominick Finelle is a free lance artist and obviously quite well educated in the steampunk arts.
The book itself is scheduled to come out in late January 2014. You can pre-order here.
Don’t forget, we are also launching the Kickstarter. Check out our other stories, and hopefully sooner rather than later we’ll have another reveal for that anthology.
Working for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, one sees innumerable technological wonders. But even veteran agents Braun and Books are unprepared for what the electrifying future holds…
Â
After being ignominiously shipped out of England following their participation in the Janus affair, Braun and Books are ready to prove their worth as agents. But what starts as a simple mission in the States—intended to keep them out of trouble—suddenly turns into a scandalous and convoluted case that has connections reaching as far as Her Majesty the Queen.
Â
Even with the help of two American agents from the Office of the Supernatural and the Metaphysical, Braun and Books have their work cut out for them as their chief suspect in a rash of nautical and aerial disasters is none other than Thomas Edison. Between the fantastic electric machines of Edison, the eccentricities of MoPO consultant Nikola Tesla, and the mysterious machinations of a new threat known only as the Maestro, they may find themselves in far worse danger than they ever have been in before…

Wait. January?! What happened to October? Too long…too long without my Books and Braun.
Funny story. It started off as March 2014, then fell back to December 2013, then to November 2013, and then to March 2014 and right now is January 28th 2014. In publishing there is a schedule, and books can get shuffled around. Ultimately, we would rather have a good, well edited book come out, rather than disappoint readers. In the meantime, we are working on the Kickstarter, so we can get some amazing stories out there…including the founding of the Ministry (written by Tee Morris)
