From Steampunk Unlimited to the Maryland Renaissance Festival: October Adventures with Our Authors

Our authors are rolling towards the end of their events this year. Only one more remains Philcon in November.

October has been a busy month, but in a wonderful way.

Pip at Revel GroveFirst our journalists went to Strasburg, Pennsylvania to attend Steampunk Unlimited. This is the fourth year of this gathering of steampunk artists, makers, musicians…and yes, authors. Each year it has grown larger and more exciting. Here you will not only see people like Frenchy and the Punk, and Abney Park, but also steam trains! Oh my, the steam trains! There were hobo dinners, murder mysteries, and even a breakout room on the trains.

You will also find amazing vendors of steampunk goodness, including the truly delicious creations of LeBeau’s Chocolate and Confections.
The weather was beautiful, the costumes were amazing, and there were a healthy number of people who learned about this whole steampunk thing. If you are looking for a great event to attend we highly recommend it next year.
The next weekend, with scarcely a breath, they whizzed off to the Maryland Renaissance Festival, thanks to the lovely folks at Page After Page, the onsite bookstore. It was a cooler, blustery day, but luckily as steampunks they went prepared with wool cloaks. They also took the first paper copies of Magical Mechanications and The Curse of the Silver Pharaoh. Both of these, and Phoenix Rising sold out.

They also had a first, where a man doing a cosplay smacked himself in the face with a book, one of ours.
